French brand Monin to set up Rs 300-cr mfg unit in TS

Hyderabad: French gourmet flavourings company, Georges Monin SAS - Monin on Wednesday held the groundbreaking ceremony of its first manufacturing unit in India. The flavouring solutions creator is bringing in an investment of Rs 300 crore to Telangana, in phase-one of the project. The unit will also provide direct and indirect employment to more than 100 persons in this phase. Set on a 40 acre land at Guntapally village in Sangareddy District, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, in phase-one, Monin plans to build a two lakh sft built-up area that will house the Monin India headquarters, the all-inclusive R&D centre and a production unit. This manufacturing facility will primarily cater to the India customer base and the neighbouring South Asia markets.
K T Rama Rao, Telangana Minister for Information Technology; Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Department of IT, and Thierry Berthelot, Consul General of France in Bangalore, attended the event. Olivier Monin, president and Chairman, Georges Monin SAS, was also present along with the guests from the French Embassy and F&B industry.
Speaking on the occasion KTR said, “With Monin joining the long list of investors in the State, the food processing ecosystem of Telangana has gone a notch up. I humbly request Monin to make Telangana its hub and hope they expand beyond the initial Rs 300 crore investments.” He also requested the company to provide employment to the local youth.
Olivier Monin highlighted India as their top-priority market which drove them to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary in India. “India is an important market for us. This base in India will cater to our key customers’ demand with tailor-made preparations. Further, local flavours can be first introduced here before we take them to other Monin entities,” he added.
Monin currently has seven production facilities worldwide - two in France, two in the USA, one in Russia, one in Malaysia and one in China. This state-of-the-art facility in India besides another one in Brazil are the new additions.
